Dr. Melinda Lacerna is a Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon from Bradenton, Florida, USA. She went to medical school at the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine, graduating in 1998, and completed her General Surgery training at Kaiser Permanente, Los Angeles in 2003, and her Plastic Surgery training at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2005. She is in solo private practice and owns LA Plastic Surgery and The Skin Plasma Center clinic, LA Skin Spa and Elite Aesthetic Surgery Center. She has been in practice for over 18 years and specializes in facial plastic surgery and skin resurfacing. She is the author of “Non-surgical Facial Rejuvenation and Skin Resurfacing” Chapter of the 9^th edition of Grabb and Smith’s Plastic Surgery, a classic plastic surgery textbook with world wide distribution. She is co-editor and author of “The Skin Book”, a comprehensive textbook of skin and procedures written by plastic surgeons for plastic surgeons (work in progress).  She has numerous publications including “Consensus paper on helium RF plasma resurfacing”, and is currently working on the manuscripts for accepted abstracts of the following titles: “Minimally Invasive browlift with helium rf plasma”, “No more ectropion: Scarless, no incision lower eyelid blepharoplasty with helium rf plasma”, “Safety and Efficacy of combining deep plasma resurfacing with facelifts: 7 year experience of over 100 cases”. She works closely with multiple aesthetic companies in the US and acts as consultant, physician trainer and KOL for  Energist, APYX Medical, Cytrellis, Evolutionary Biologics, and Allumiere MD and AnteAge MD. She is a national and international speaker and has presented in numerous plastic surgery meetings namely with the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS), The Aesthetic Society (TAS), and The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). She is currently involved in two sponsored  IRB approved clinical studies: “Minimally Invasive Browlift with helium rf plasma” and “Skin improvement quality study following facelifts and helium rf plasma”. She has won many awards, namely “Best surgical facial rejuvenation case for 2023” by the Aesthetic Awards (October 2023), and gold medal award for “Best Face Presentation” at the ISAPS World Congress in Athens, Greece in September 2023. In the year 2024 alone, she is an invited speaker and faculty for over 15 presentations nationally and internationally, including the USA, South Korea, Canada and Columbia.  She is passionate about developing and improving more minimally invasive procedures for facial aesthetic surgery (minimally invasive subperiosteal browlift techniques, scarless upper and lower blepharoplasty techniques and minimally invasive skin tightening procedures of the face, neck and body utilizing helium and nitrogen plasma devices. She is passionate about combining classical facelift techniques (such as deep plane face and neck lifts) with plasma technology (helium and nitrogen plasma) and regenerative medicine (exosomes, platelet rich plasma, fat grafting) to provide the best results for her patients. She enjoys traveling and meeting new colleagues from all over the world, and she welcomes Plastic Surgeons to observe and train in her center.
